Fredrix Water Color Canvas
« on: October 14, 2008, 10:14:00 AM »
I'm newish to this forum. I live both in Australia in the Dandenongs and in the USA. I manage to avoid winters that way! I am eager for feedback and suggestions as I want to grow in my painting skills. I am looking for images of street scenes that would lend themselves to interpretation, so if you have any photos you would allow me to use I would be most grateful. I recently completed this acrylic painting on Fredrix Water Color canvas which I stretched myself. I love the smoother surface. It holds the paint beautifully - more than could be said when I tried to use water color on it - and is suitable for both impasto painting and layered washes. A great surface!

I've never had much success painting rain, and you have pulled it off magnificently.

A beautiful painting! Well done!
I am interested that you did this on the watercolour canvas.I have a couple of the same canvases ( haven't tried them yet) It is good to know that acrylics and impasto work well on the surface....However, like you, I will try the watercolour first!

Here are a couple more acrylics done on water color canvas. I hope you have more success than I did with water color Mrs Willow. I found the fact that every time I tried to wash over an existing layer the underneath would lift to be vbery frustrating. But for acrylics ... ah! Great.

Here is the second one. These are both the result of a recent trip to Tuscany. More on the way!
